At Mawla ("we", "our", or "the app"), we value your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data when you use the Mawla mobile application and website (mawla.app).

By using our app, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Data We Collect

Mawla collects the following categories of data to provide you with the best possible experience:

• Account and Profile Information: Email address, username, and profile preferences. Used for account creation and authentication.
• Prayer and Worship Settings: Preferred calculation method, school of jurisprudence (madhab), prayer reminder preferences, and worship logs (prayer, dhikr, repentance).
• Location Data: Your location is used to calculate prayer times, determine Qibla direction, and display nearby places. Location data is processed on the device and is not stored on our servers.
• Push Notification Tokens: Device notification tokens are stored to send you push notifications.
• Usage Logs: Anonymous usage statistics and error reports to improve the app.
• Subscription Status: Premium subscription status and entitlement information.
• Purchase Data: In-app purchases are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, so payment information (credit card, etc.) is never collected by us. Only subscription status and purchase receipt data are stored.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect for the following purposes:

• Providing and improving app features
• Calculating location-based prayer times
• Determining Qibla direction and displaying nearby mosques
• Responding to Islamic questions through the AI assistant
• Sending push notifications (prayer times, daily verse, Friday reminders, Ramadan alerts, repentance reminders)
• Managing subscriptions and in-app purchases
• Tracking worship progress (prayer log, dhikr, repentance)
• Identifying and resolving technical issues

3. Data Processors and Infrastructure

We use the following trusted third-party providers to deliver our services:

• Supabase: Database, authentication, and server infrastructure. Your data is stored on Supabase's secure infrastructure.
• RevenueCat: Subscription entitlement management. Synchronizes your purchase status across platforms.
• Apple App Store / Google Play: In-app purchases and subscription billing.
• Expo: Push notification infrastructure. Your notification tokens are delivered through Expo servers.
• AI Providers (Anthropic, Google): Used to power the AI Imam feature. Conversation content is processed to generate responses; user identity information is not shared with these providers.

4. AI Features and Third-Party AI Services

Mawla offers AI-powered features to provide Islamic guidance. These features rely on third-party AI services, and some of your data is sent to these services for processing:

• Voice AI Assistant (Google Gemini): When you use the voice assistant feature, your audio data is sent in real time to Google's Gemini AI service ("Gemini API"). Google processes this audio data to generate voice responses. Audio data is processed transiently and is not permanently stored by us.
• Text-Based AI Chat (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI): When you submit written questions, your messages are sent to Anthropic or OpenAI AI services to generate responses.
• Data Transmitted: Only your conversation/voice content is sent to AI providers. Personally identifiable information such as your email address, username, or other account details is not shared with these providers.
• Third-Party Privacy Policies: These services are subject to their own privacy policies. Google's privacy policy can be found at policies.google.com/privacy and Anthropic's privacy policy at anthropic.com/privacy.

By using these AI features, you consent to your data being transmitted to these third-party providers for processing as described above.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or commercially share your personal data with third parties. Your data is shared only with the service providers listed above and only to the extent necessary for service delivery.

In the event of a legal obligation (court order, legal request, etc.), your data may be disclosed to the relevant authorities.

6. Data Storage and Security

Your data is securely stored on Supabase infrastructure. We implement the following security measures:

• Encryption in transit and at rest (TLS/SSL and AES-256)
• Row-Level Security (RLS) for database access control
• JWT-based authentication
• Secure vault for sensitive keys

7. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right of Access: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Right of Correction: You may request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Right of Deletion: You may request permanent deletion of your account and all associated data. Account deletion can be requested through the app, our website, or by emailing support@mawla.app. All data is permanently deleted within 30 days.

Data categories deleted: profile information, subscription history, worship logs (prayer, dhikr, repentance), app settings, notification tokens, and usage logs.

8. Push Notifications

Mawla may send the following types of push notifications:

• Prayer Time Reminders: Notifications for the five daily prayers
• Daily Verse: A Quran verse delivered daily
• Friday Reminder: Special reminder every Friday
• Ramadan Notifications: Suhoor and Iftar reminders
• Repentance Reminders: Personal repentance tracking reminders

All notification types can be individually enabled or disabled in the app's Notification Settings. You can also completely disable all notifications through your device settings.

9. Children's Privacy

Mawla is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at support@mawla.app and we will promptly delete the relevant data.

10. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. When significant changes are made, we will notify you through an in-app notification. Your continued use of the updated app constitutes acceptance of the changes.
